Galina Richardson was born in Volgograd, Russia and has been drawing and painting ever since she was a young girl. Growing up, she was also interested in languages and she ultimately sought a formal education in the field of linguistics. While working as a technical translator in Surgut, Western Siberia, Galina met her American husband. She soon joined him in Ventura, California and has called this coastal city her home for more than twenty-five years.
Galina studied graphic design at UCSB and for many years worked as a graphic designer, creating logos, advertisements, posters and brochures. She went on to work for the FBI in Los Angeles as a language analyst, but her passion for art remained.
Mostly self-taught, Galina is a passionate painter, whether she works in oil, watercolor, charcoal or pastel. She loves capturing human emotions in a portrait and finds inspiration from her family and friends, her own life experiences and observations.
Galina accepts portrait commissions.
She is also an avid runner and has completed over 50 marathons.
